Research and planning: Masthead Mockups
Mastheads are important because it presents the whole style of the magazine. This is because of the connotations process of people's associations e.g when they see a certain color. The Clarendon life allows the intended target audience to understand that it's a magazine with cover stories of Hyde Clarendon students. I have focused on conventions and I have looked at existing collage mastheads to subvert or adhere to their conventions. I have adhered to the conventional aspects of color. This is because you can connotate purple, yellow and blue. Purple connatates to royalty and the collage experience is important. This color can also develop a color scheme and synegise to articles e.g if there was a double page spread interview on sport captains. Blue connotates to calmness which is also a factor of successful collage life. The yellow is conventional to collage magazines as I have seen it in other examples. The typographies I have looked at are relevant to audience association. A collage magazine needs to have relevance to the study aspect but also allows the intended target audience to depict a sense of maturity through typography so I have used a font website. This is where I have found multiple typographies and created relevance to the semantic field of collage magazines.
