By looking at photo shoot examples, It has helped me understand what I need to consider for my test shots. A plain background is adhering to conventions of the Photoshop stage. This is accompanied by high key lighting and a wide shot. High Key lighting is relevant to taking images because using the Photoshop software and the magic wand tool, it's professional to take out the background. The best editing relies upon high key lighting. I've noticed it's harder to use the magic wand tool when the background is low key lit. Other than the background, there's other ways to establish a pop band. For this image props and facial expressions are the most effective. The facial expressions are quite humorous because they all display character. It also keeps with the light hearted tone which I want to establish with my artists used. Props are significant to the Vamps because the instruments are what establish their band role. This makes them like a mini Mcfly which by having them as a magazine cover line, will increase magazines popularity because how they preform pop music is rare on the "pop market."
This image uses a medium close up shot that is high key lighted. Medium close ups are conventional to pop magazines when using a single artist because it allows the audience to witness costumes as well as facial expressions. Here makeup is relevant which I must include, for my female artists. The Makeup must be applied in a subtle way. The eye makeup is the most dressed up and like Taylor Eyes, her eye liner includes the Batwing look which may be a bit too much but I may use. The red lips has connotations to danger which you also associate with celebrity gossip. Props is also relevant because Taylor is an indie pop artist that's gone mainstream, the guitar is relevant to the type of music she creates. If this was an artist like Ariana Grande or Jessie J the acoustic guitar wouldn't be a popular prop associated with the artist. Hair has also been styled again so it looks professionally brushed but it's a simple design which the audience may copy. This makes them feel closer to celebrities by copying styles such as hair. Hair also indicates to the time it was taken because hair styles are popular emphasized for celebrities by magazines such as cosmopolitan. Rising star wouldn't go into the look of artist but the look is a launch in the media industry so to create a new pop artist, Before our Reign must consider hair and makeup aspect of mise en scene.
Conventional aspect of pop is bright clothing. The bright style also has connotations to fun. The pillow props, in my personal opinion are quite unusual and irrelevant but I also think they have been used to relate to the stereotypes of a teenage audience due to pillow fights=fun girl sleepover activity. This could show Little mix are being launched to be genuine which would make good female role models whilst having audience interest. The microphone props clearly are used to establish they are singers. By wearing converses also shows the mainstream side of pop because converses are commercialization shoes. Leanne's are pink and pink has connotations to femininity.
Only the young are a band who hasn't currently got a record label but they are being launched in this Photoshoot. The band type consists of males and females which has only been done exactly like this for ABBA. Only the young have a big "pop market" gap which is because of the mix gender band. I want to do this for my band, if I still go through with a band so that the females will be teenage girl role models and the guys would be respected and conventionally appeal to girls due to their look.
5SOS- 5 seconds of summer show there role of the band by using props. This photoshoot image is the best one yet for a band because of the use of character. The facial expressions are again humorous but posture is the most impressive aspect of mise en scene used in this wide shot. They are all closely stood together but by using props, it creates a posture which shows the bands wild side. This wild side is significant to audience interest because it will show that the synergy article will support this wild side.
